IP Australia

IP Australia is  the country’s primary source of all knowledge surrounding Intellectual Property rights. They are responsible for holding all patents, trademarks and plant breeder’s rights.

Task

IP Australia’s ageing internet site was in need of a major overhaul. The selection of a Content Management System and vendor was one of the final processes in a long program of work that included user needs analysis, usability requirements, content rationalisation, content editing and web design. The Web Services Delivery team were not highly technical and required a CMS solution that suited their publishing and maintenance needs without placing a technology burden on the IT support areas of the business.

Solution

David Heacock was approached by IP Australia to gather requirements from the Web Services Delivery team and IP Australia’s wider ICT community in order to form the Statement of Requirements for a public Request for Tender. By navigating the complex internal relationships and balancing the needs of all parties, David was able to develop a solid set of CMS requirements that were tempered with a deep understanding of the capabilities of enterprise-level CMS offerings.

Result

IP Australia went to market and received responses from a large selection of high-quality CMS vendors and has invited David Heacock to participate in their evaluation.
