David Heacock – Principal

David currently consults to a number of Australian Government agencies, working on long-term projects to research, design and guide the deployment of enterprise software user interfaces, while maintaining a consistent and supportive user experience for the enterprise.

After establishing Grey Interactive Canberra in 1996, David and his partners Frederica Heacock, George Mackintosh and Judy Waters founded MA@D Communication, a boutique marketing and design agency with strong digital capabilities.  As Internet Director, David produced award-winning websites for a range of government and private clients including Questacon, Engineers Australia, Animal Health Australia and many others. From humble beginnings with only four staff, MA@D grew to 18 before finally merging with ZOO Communications in late 2007 where David reestablished ZOO Digital, building it into an important part of ZOO’s overall business.

Frederica Heacock – Managing Director

Strategic, innovative, forward-thinking. These are just three ways to describe the approach that has driven Frederica’s success in advertising, web and graphic design management over 20 years.

A self-described ‘rain maker’, she is adept at identifying opportunities in countless ways. It could be aligning organisations or stakeholders around a meeting table, broker a sponsorship, or simply develop a more efficient system. Whatever the challenge, she has the vision to develop ideas that others may not see.

After initially gaining qualifications in visual art and photo media, Frederica has pursued a career in communications and management in the advertising and graphic design industry. This has involved a variety of senior roles in a number of commercial organisations.

She has worked for both large and small companies, and as been instrumental in establishing and managing a very successful design and Internet agency in Canberra.

Frederica has extensive experience in the commercial environment and has developed a high level of skill in communications and campaign management for both private and public sector clients. With a strong network of communications specialists globally, Frederica assists clients to develop the brief and execute integrated campaigns.

She is a creative and strategic thinker who has well-developed skills in presentation, project direction and negotiation. Other skills include:

  • business management, planning and implementing quality systems
  • business development, including identifying opportunities, managing the client relationship, preparing tender responses and undertaking contract negotiations
  • campaign management from developing the brief, concept development, strategy, planning, research/testing, to project delivery.

Peter Wayland – Project Manager

Peter has over 15 years broad based business and project management experience across a range of industries. He has successfully lead teams and deployed projects across a range of industries and performed in high visibility, high pressure client interfacing roles. He has a strong, dynamic and effective leadership style, confident and convincing communication skills, a loyal and dedicated team focus and a commitment to achieving outstanding results. Peter is currently working closely with David Heacock to deliver the new Department of Immigration and Citizenship website and intranet design.

Dan Macfayden – Senior User Centred Design Analyst

Dan has extensive experience in IT industry both in the public and private sectors. Since 1992 he has held business analysis, information architecture, web development and project management roles both in Australia and overseas. During his career he has worked with many household names from a range of industry sectors. Dan holds a BA in Communication (Advertising and Marketing) from the University of Canberra, a Masters in Information Technology (e Commerce) from the Queensland University of Technology and is Prince2 qualified. Dan is currently working closely with David Heacock to deliver the new Department of Immigration and Citizenship website and intranet design.

George Mackintosh – Art Director

With over 30 years industry experience George is Canberra’s most creative and experienced art director. Early on in his career George made a conscious decision not to allow computer software to limit him or drive his approach to design. To this day George continues to take a ‘hands on’ approach to art direction. His focus remains concept development and working closely with Cybertrack’s graphic and web developers to see his design ideas though to fruition.

George has art directed a number of high profile and award winning projects including the brand for the National Portrait Gallery and Sydney Futures Exchange SPI 200 and many more and is an invaluable member of the Cybertrack team.
